This stunning piece of mid-century modern art pottery from Italy has a great organic form and is finished with an orange-peel textured glaze. The decidedly cubist still-life design recalls Picasso or Braques, while the glass genie bottle depicted in the center recalls Blenko and its Italian modernist competitors. Colors are blue gray to charcoal to black, with rose pink highlights. It can be used either as a serving tray or as a wall hanging - it comes with two factory made holes on the reverse.
The orange peel glaze continues to the back , which is also marked with a production number, 500/626, Italy, in Bitossi style lettering. It may have been a Raymor import that is missing the paper label.
Size: 12-1/2" long by 8-1/4" wide by 2-1/8" high. Substantial piece weighing 2 pounds, unboxed.
Condition: There is one tiny glaze flake, about an 1/8" long and 1/16" wide, off of one edge in the corner. Not seen unless searched for. No chips, cracks, crazing or any other damage noted.
