Offered is a very large, 8 crimp Blenko Rose Bowl, originally designed by Winslow Anderson. I believe the color is aqua, which was produced in only one year, 1959. That would mesh with it having been purchased from a family clearing out the great-grandmother’s estate. Referring to the Blenko Collector’s color chart - though the Blenko greens really seem to overlap - Aqua seems the closest to me. If not aqua, then it might be a darkish Surf Green where the colors pooled. In any event, the photo color is true to the original, though it looks a bit more green when held to the light. It has Blenko’s rough, unfinished pontil on the bottom.
SIZE: 8" diameter by about 8 inches high
CONDITION: Very good. No chips, cracks, or fleabites. There are some light scratches on the inside, as it was used as a Rose Bowl. There are also mineral deposits around the crimps which I did not try to remove, as well as some lower in the bowl. The deposits may come out with a soaking in vinegar, but I feel they really do not affect the display of the piece because of the dark, saturated color.
